Scorton Advances again

An emergency meeting saw Scorton Mark Lodge No 1103 advance another candidate into the order at Garstang Masonic Hall.
Harry Robinson, Chris Yates and Frank Hoggarth
Welcomed into the friendly degree was Chris Yates. He had been proposed by Frank Hoggarth IPM and seconded by Robert Bradshaw the junior overseer.

WM Harry Robinson very generously vacated the chair in order that Frank could advance his candidate and I can report that he did so in exemplary fashion.
Stephen Parker, Peter Robinson, Michael Frankland and Robert Bradshaw
The meeting was the first chance since the installation for the new officers to take part. Circumstances meant that some could not be present but nonetheless it was a delight to see Michael Frankland and Robert Bradshaw in action as, respectively, senior and junior overseer.
Dave Shaw, Harry Robinson and Ian Stokes
Stephen Parker got some of his daily steps in as he perambulated as junior deacon, whilst organist Peter Robinson added delightful harmonies to the occasion. The four aforementioned brethren only having been advanced in the previous season it augers well for the lodge.

Harry was pleased to welcome two visiting masters to the meeting in the persons of Dave Shaw of Morecambe Mark and Ian Stokes of Garnett Mark. Visitor and super-sub Jim Richards of Jubilee Mark embraced the role of junior warden with enthusiasm.
The diners
The dining room having been booked for a non-masonic function the meal was taken in the committee room adjacent to the lodge room. It worked out well with food warmers in use to ensure the fare was of a good standard. It necessitated a return trip downstairs to the bar for drinks but that did not detract from things. The staff, who are to be congratulated, were the ones with the miles to cover and they did so in a timely manner and with a smile.

Another very pleasant evening in the Mark degree with the added bonus that most of the journey home was accomplished before night set in.
